About Maison H&H

This is the story of Mademoiselle H, a doctor in her late 20s, celebrating the little things in life. The tartness of the first cherry of the season; the smoothness of a paintbrush against canvas; the smell of a newly-cut lime; the crispness of autumn leaves under gumboots; the newness of words in an old Fitzgerald novel; the brightness of the colours under Monet's bridge.

She lives with the ever-patient, ever-wonderful Monsieur H, and her sister, the original Mademoiselle H, who lights up both their lives. Together, the three H's reside à la maison in a special little home that they like to imagine is nestled in the South of France, but in reality sits in suburban Australia.

They tingle at the warm smell of baked apple muffins on a winter's night, and the pitter patter of rain against the window in a storm. They cherish all the simple pleasures of a happy and bustling household, and the days whirl by like egg whites in a blender.

But all the while Mademoiselle H yearns for something more than the daily drive to and from the hospital, and the constant memorising of enzymes and coagulation factors. She wants to be a writer, and Monsieur H and Mademoiselle H tell her that a blog is a good place to start.
